Throw Back Thursday-A Tribute to my Bus Drivers

Throw Back Thursday

School is the day after Labor Day in most schools in Minnesota so my Throw Back Thursday is actually a "Tribute" to my school bus drivers, Roger and Ed.  One drove in the morning and the other at night because they were also the high school custodians. They were the best.  I had them most of my school years.

They had discipline on the bus, but I never heard a cross word from them.  They laid out the rules and the kids followed them.  Both Roger and Ed were respectful to the kids on the bus and the kids respected them back.
We were on a rural bus route, so not only were there snow days in Minnesota, but we had mud days too on the gravel roads. It wasn't easy driving those roads in rural Minnesota.

On our bus we had a radio and speakers and Roger and Ed  would play the radio station with all the hit songs. I remember all the high school girls would sing to all the popular music, so I decided I should learn a song... I chose
                                "I'm Henry VIII, I Am"
                        (originally by Harry Champion)
I'm Henry the eighth, I am
Henry the eighth, I am, I am
I got married to the widow next door
She's been married seven times before

And every one was an Henry (Henry)
She wouldn't have a Willy or a Sam (No Sam)
I'm her eighth old man, I'm Henry
Henry the eighth I am

Second verse, same as the first
Sung by Herman's Hermits

Now I had a song to sing and I learned it on the bus!

As I think of my "back to school memories"  I remember Roger and Ed and want to pay "Tribute" to them and all of the bus drivers who bring children back and forth to school safely, each day.
